Prof. Damasus Tuurosong boasts an impressive educational background, with a doctorate in Development Studies from the University of Cape Coast and a Master of Philosophy in Communication Studies from the University of Ghana, Legon. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Theatre Arts from the University of Ghana. His foundational education were from the esteemed Nandom Secondary School in Nandom where he obtained an Advanced Level Certificate (GCE) and St. Francis Xavier Junior Seminary in Wa where he had his an Ordinary Level Certificate (GCE).
With over 21 years in educational management, Damasus Tuurosong joined the Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS) in 2012. He rose from serving as the Upper West Regional Chairperson of the Association to becoming the 1st National Vice President, and ultimately, he was elected as the National President on August 19, 2021, a position he holds to date.
The Professor of Development Communication, who previously worked as a print journalist and reporter for the Daily Graphic, is now spearheading the Association’s rapid growth. His focus is on advocating for an enabling environment for private schools and empowering private school owners to enhance educational outcomes, ultimately contributing to the achievement of national educational goals.
He believes in Nelson Mandela’s assertion that “Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world.” Consequently, his philosophy is to create a God-fearing society where the power of knowledge enriches lives and fosters a love for humanity, regardless of social or cultural circumstances.
As Director of Tupaso Centre of Excellence, one of the pioneering private schools running from crèche to senior high school in the Upper West Regional capital, Wa, Prof. believes that the virtues of Righteousness, Hard work, Charity, Decency, and Cost-consciousness are essential to inculcate in the social training of young people.
Currently, at the Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (SDD-UBIDS), he serves as a Senior Lecturer in Development Communication and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Integrated Development Studies.
Outside of his professional duties, Damasus Tuurosong is a devout Catholic and a proud father of ____ lovely daughter(s) and ____ handsome son(s).
